For SUV shoppers hunting for functionality and modern features in a beautiful vehicle, the Jeep line deserves a closer look. The Cherokee and Grand Cherokee both have a long-standing tradition of impressing drivers and passengers. While they share a few traits, they also are undeniably different in exciting ways. At D'Amico Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we always do our part to support our customers with their model selection, and we are excited to be a part of your next crossover purchase. What can you discover about the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee through an in-depth comparison?

Performance

You will find seven distinctive powertrains with different performance capabilities across the trim lines for the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. One of these is a 271-horsepower, Pentastar V6 engine that can tow up to 4,500 pounds in the Cherokee. Another Cherokee powertrain is a 270-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter engine. The most impressive powertrain available in the Grand Cherokee is a V8, supercharged 6.2-liter, 707-horsepower engine that tows up to 7,200 pounds. Both models have a solid trail rating at all trim levels.

Appearance

These Jeep crossovers have comparable grilles with vertical bars and integrated LED headlights. However, the Cherokee's grille has a modest curve running horizontally, and the hood angles more steeply into the grille. Both crossovers have aggressive styling through the headlights as well. While the Cherokee's lights have a pointed quality with a top LED light bar, the Grand Cherokee's headlights have a geometric feel and are almost entirely outlined by LED lights.

Features

The 2021 Cherokee and the 2021 Grand Cherokee are two-row vehicles with spacious interiors, fold-flat seating in the back row, and an exceptional range of standard features at all trim levels. They also have a wing-style display in the dashboard center that holds air vents and a touch display screen. The Grand Cherokee is the higher-level model and has a few extra luxuries that are not available in the Cherokee. Still, both models have heated seating, Apple CarPlay, cruise control, Android Auto, a navigation system, assistive safety features, and other desired gear across various trim levels.
