The Compass is one of the smaller SUVs made by Jeep. Size-wise, it fits in between the Renegade and the Cherokee. The Compass is a top choice of SUV for people who want a car that's fun to drive, has plenty of character, and has all the technology space and interior comfort required for a road trip. The Compass gets some changes from 2020 to 2021, although most changes affect specific trim levels. In 2021, the Trailhawk and Limited trim levels get more standard driver safety aids. There is also a new special edition 80th Anniversary package available for a custom look. A six-speed manual transmission is offered in 2020 but not in 2021.

Aside from eliminating the manual transmission, the 2020 and 2021 Jeep Compass have identical performance characteristics. They are all driven by the same engine, which is a gasoline engine with four cylinders. The standard engine has a 2.4L displacement. Its maximum power output reaches 180 HP, and its maximum torque is nearly the same. Most Compass trim levels have front-wheel drive, except for standard all-wheel drive on the Trailhawk. All-wheel drive is offered on the other trims. The front-wheel-drive models have a six-speed transmission, and a nine-speed transmission is paired with all-wheel drive.

Some unique exterior styling elements can be added to the Jeep Compass in 2021 with the 80th Anniversary package. Otherwise, the Jeep's exterior is mostly unchanged. Steel wheels are included on the first trim level, while the second trim level and higher get alloy wheels. Fog lights come with the Latitude trim level and up, along with automatic headlights and roof rails. The Trailhawk trim has more rugged exterior elements, including off-road tires and a raised suspension. Xenon headlights are offered with a package, and you can get a power liftgate as well.

Interior features are primarily the same for the 2021 and 2020 Compass. The base trim has smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It gets a seven-inch infotainment system, while you'll get a larger 8.4-inch screen if you get the Limited trim and up. Automatic climate control is a standard feature, along with USB charging ports in the first and second rows. A leather steering wheel and keyless ignition come with the Latitude, while the Limited adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, and remote engine start. More safety technology is added to the Limited, including blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.
